ashby angels provide antenatal and postnatal support for mothers and parents to be. Based in Ashby-de-la-Zouch we provide care and support throughout the midlands.
What is a Doula?
Doula is an ancient Greek word meaning a woman who helps other women. The word has further evolved to mean a woman experienced in childbirth who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to the mother before, during, and after childbirth.At ashby angels we believe it is every woman’s right to have someone special to be her ‘angel’ at a time when she needs someone the most.
Who are ashby angels?
We are Karen and Clare, two women experienced in child birth and child care. We have five children between us. We both hold valid CRB certificates and are fully insured.
We understand how important those first few weeks are to you and your new baby. This time can often be very emotional, exciting, yet may also seem very daunting.
Why do you need us?
In the past where our mother’s, sister’s, aunties and even village elders would offer their time and support to the new mum, in today’s busy world this is not always possible. At ashby angels we believe in these old fashioned values of care and understanding. We can take a lot of the stress out of those early days enabling you and your baby precious bonding time.
Whether you are having your first or your third baby, you will find yourself with questions and needs. ashby angels provide support in four general areas:

How can we help?
Our services are as individual as you are and we can tailor them to suit your personal needs. These may include:
Supporting you at your antenatal appointments.
Allowing you “me time”. e.g. relaxing in the bath, getting dressed etc.
Helping you with your new baby’s routine.
Looking after your other children.
Shopping for those emergency items.
Taking care of your visitors.
Making a family meal.
Light housework e.g. tidying, dusting.
Telephone support when you most need it.
And of course by just being there as a friend
